Bereits auf dem diesjährigen Festival wurde bekanntgegeben: Beim Wacken Open Air 2012 werden die Scorpions als (ein) Headliner spielen - die Scorpions, seit "Wind of Change" eigentlich ein Nogo - oder?
Während ich diese kurze Notiz schreibe laufen im Hintergrund die letzten Takte das Live-Album "World Wide Live", aufgenommen in Kalifornien. Mehrfach kündigen sie darin Songs "from our new album" an - das Album "Love at first sting" erschien 1984 - und spielen sich dann durch heute als Klassiker bekannte Stücke wie "Rock you like a hurricane", "Still loving you" und "Big City Nights" - nette Erinnerungen verbinden sich mit gutem Rock'n Roll. Noch ein paar Jahre zurück landen wir bei dem Album "Virgin Killer" (1976) - erinnert sich noch jemand an den Coverskandal in der englischsprachigen Wikipedia? Daruf befindet sich die typische Rock- und Balladenmischung der Scorpions (Balladen gehören einfach dazu!), und vor allem ein paar sehr schöne Stücke wie "Hell Cat" und der Titeltrack "Virgin Killer".
Und wie hören sich die Scorpions 2011 an? Seit 2002 wurden die Scorpions wohl tatsächlich wieder rockiger, das 17. (!) Studioalbum "Sting in the Tail" soll richtig gut sein und auf dem Konzert von Motörhead im letzten Dezember unterhielt ich mich mit mehreren Metalheads. die sich die Abschniedstour gegeben haben und die richtig geil fanden - ich werde mich also beschäftigen mit den Scorpions der After-Wind-of-Change-Phase und freue mich, sie villeicht 2012 live sehen zu können (zum allerletzten mal).
Während ich mir "World Wide Live" angehört habe, habe ich auf den Wikimedia Commons die Bildergalerie der Scorpions durchsortiert und gesichtet und ein paar Bilder in den deutschsprachigen Wikipedia-Artikel eingebaut. Die Kategorie ist gut gefüllt (auch wenn der größte Teil der Bilder unscharf und wenig befriedigend ist) und zu den Akteuren der aktuellen Besetzung findet man recht gute Bilder aus den vergangenen Jahren - vor 2000 wird es allerdings auch hier sehr eng - ein gerade eben nutzbares Bild von Michael Schenker von 1983 (nach seiner Scorpions-Zeit) ist dabei die einzige Ausbeute. Wie so oft besteht also auch hier eine richtig schmerzhafte Bilderlücke in der prä-digitalen Phase, die zugleich die eigentlich "große" Phase der Band war.
Erneut also mein Ausfruf: Liebe Rockfans der 1970er, 1980er und 1990er Jahre und liebe Söhne und Töchter dieser Rockfans: Schaut doch mal in eure Schatzkisten und die eurer Eltern, ob ihr da nicht doch noch ein paar Fotos von den Konzerten der Klassiker findet (nicht nur den Scorpions), die ihr uns zur Verfügung stellen könnt - egal, ob Dia oder Papierbild, wir übernehmen auch gern die Digitalisierung!
